Rokkaen (former residence of Seiroku Moroto) was completed in 1913 as the residence of Seiroku Moroto, a businessman from Kuwana who was called the king of forests. In particular, the Western-style part was designed by Josiah Conder, who designed Rokumeikan and other buildings, and was called the "Father of Modern Japanese Architecture." On a vast site of more than 18,000 square meters overlooking Ibi and the Nagara River, this mansion is composed of Western-style buildings, Japanese-style buildings, storehouses and other buildings, and a Japanese garden with a ``chisen-kaiyushiki'' style garden. It is a precious relic that remains almost intact.
